Bronx Youth Ski and Snowboard Through Vail Resorts’ Epic for Everyone Youth Access Program

The Bronx, NY – Through a new partnership between Good Shepherd Services and Vail Resorts, young Bronxites had the chance to head upstate and learn how to ski and snowboard. Through Vail Resorts’ outdoor, winter sports enrichment Epic for Everyone program, 50 Good Shepherd Services– middle school afterschool program participants learned the basics of skiing and snowboarding. To mark the success of the program, Vail Resorts has premiered a new short film today featuring the Good Shepherd Services after school program participants learning on the slopes, at Hunter Mountain Resort in Hunter, NY. The film, which was shot in February of this year, can be viewed here.

“Every young person deserves the chance to try out new hobbies and discover where their passions lie regardless of zip code or circumstance,” said Michelle Yanche, CEO of Good Shepherd Services. “Outdoor enrichment programs like these  provide valuable opportunities for NYC youth to learn new skills and knowledge outside the classroom and realize their fullest potential. We are so grateful to offer our youth this important chance to get outside and hit the slopes through this incredible partnership with Epic for Everyone.”

In addition to five free on-snow lessons, participants received free meals, equipment rentals, and two additional lift tickets to continue practicing with a guardian. Youth participants also received numerous mentorship opportunities, including an introduction to career opportunities like snowmaking, operations, and ski and snowboard instruction.
