Alignment Areas: Anti-racism, Equity, Nonprofit

Tamir’s Bio

I’m a cisgender, mostly hetero white man working to dismantle systems of oppression and create a world where all of us are free to become the truest version of ourselves. I’m half-immigrant, half-fourth-generation New Yorker and have called the City my home for the past 20-plus years. For a brief, shining moment, my family had a glimpse of the American Dream. Then all of that fell apart. I spent much of my life trying to outrun my trauma, then spent years learning to grieve my past and open myself to joy, felt experience and my own wisdom and personal magic. At the same time, I’ve been deconstructing the ways white supremacy and other systems of oppression operate in the world and through me, and seeking better ways to act in solidarity with those who’ve been oppressed. These two journeys have been deeply intertwined. I’ve been a youth worker, a philanthropic professional and an executive director of a national progressive membership organization. I work at the intersections of social justice, building multiracial community and personal and collective healing because none of these is possible without the others.

Tamir’s Message to You

Even in this moment, you are powerful. Together we can tap into your essence and help you organize your life around your dreams and your yearnings for the world.
