Community Benefits Assistance (CBA), formerly Single Stop, provides individuals and families with hands-on assistance in applying for public benefits. At our centers, we offer easy access to public services in one place — connecting people to the resources they need to attain higher education, obtain good jobs, and achieve financial stability. Community Benefits Assistance centers also offer legal counseling, help with financial planning, immigration services, and referrals to other community-based organizations, as needed.

  • Family Law (Custody / Child Support/Domestic Violence)

  • Elder law (power of attorney and legal guardianship)
  • Consumer law (sued from a hospital, credit card, and any other civil lawsuit.

Free Tax Preparation

  • Free Tax Preparation from January-April 15th

Immigration services provided in-house

  • Adjustment of status (I-485)
  • Certificate of citizenship for minor children (N-600)
  • Citizenship (N-400)
  • Permanent Resident Card renewal and replacement (I-90)
  • Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence (I-751)
  • DACA (legal-Brooklyn Legal Services)
  • And other immigration services

  • Work authorization
  • Adjustment of Status
  • Replacement of Permanent Resident Cards
  • Immigrant visa processing and removal proceedings
  • Domestic violence immigration-related services, including VAWA self-petitions, battered spouse waivers and U-Visa applications.
  • Special Immigrant Juveniles Petition process and other legal matters.

  • Cash Assistance/one-shot-deal/emergency grants referrals
  • SNAP/Food Stamps enrollment and recertification
  • Social Security benefits application(i.e., SSD/SSI/retirement) and help with any forms from the Social Security Administration
  • Health Insurance enrollment
  • Housing assistance and Landlord tenants’ issues
  • Unemployment claims
  • Affordable housing applications
  • Workers Compensation claims
  • Referral to family shelters
  • IDNYC and passport applications
  • Replacement of personal documents (social security card, birth certificate, EBT card, Medicare card, etc.)
  • HEAP application and recertification
  • SCRIE/DRIE new application and recertification
  • MTA Reduced Fare MetroCard new application and mediations
  • Medicare application and replacement
  • MSP application to help with the Medicaid Premium cost
