Summer Camps Explored the Outdoors

ASP Title 2

This summer, the children and young people of Good Shepherd Services’ summer camps explored the outdoors, canoed along our waterways, and had a fantastic time while learning new skills and making new friends.

When the last bell of the school year rang, Good Shepherd Services transformed many of its afterschool programs into free summer camps.  With locations across the Bronx and Brooklyn, we provided thousands of children and youth with rich summer experiences and learning opportunities.  Our summer camps are structured to provide outdoor recreational fun coupled with hands-on enrichment activities that strengthen children’s academic skills and prevent summer learning loss.

Through our strong partnerships, our camps are able to offer great initiatives like Camp RESTORE. This exciting program blends science, engineering, and environmentalism with outdoor recreation and is done in partnership with New York Harbor Foundation, the Urban Assembly of New York Harbor School, and Time Warner Cable’s Connect a Million Minds.

While activities vary from camp to camp, all of our summer camps offer activities that engage children and youth, tap into their natural curiosity and wonder, and create lasting memories.
