Our Programs
Community Schools | Bedford Stuyvesant, Bushwick, Kingsbridge

Community Schools leverage the resources of community partners and families to improve student learning, academic success, and the overall well-being of youth. Schools are transformed into community hubs that offer a wide-range of support services, including health care, counseling, and post-secondary preparation. Community schools are open to everyone and operate year-round during the day, evening and Saturdays.
Located in low-income communities in Brooklyn and the Bronx, Good Shepherd Services works with leadership from each school and other community-based partners to offer an integrated set of services to children, youth, families and communities to help them gain the skills needed for success in school and life.

Good Shepherd Services’ Bronx afterschool programs
Our staff and partners offer youth and families individual counseling and other targeted interventions, remedial academic instruction, after-school programming, and group counselling for students on age-appropriate topics including bullying, avoiding gang involvement, and managing emotions.
Additionally, our community schools work to provide parents with resources including GED programming, career and vocational workshops, and opportunities to volunteer at their child’s school.
