Our Programs
Education | Bedford Stuyvesant, Downtown Brooklyn, Red Hook, Sunset Park
Good Shepherd Services works in partnership with the New York City Department of Education to help youth who have faced previous academic challenges graduate high school prepared for careers and college.
Our transfer high schools are based on a successful school model that we first pioneered at South Brooklyn Community High School in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn. These schools provide a full-day, year-round academic program in a small school setting for students who had previously dropped-out or were significantly off-track for graduation. The result is a highly personalized school environment where each student is known, respected and supported.
Similar to our transfer school model, our partnership school at Brooklyn Frontiers High School offers a highly personalized school environment and small classroom setting. The school is designed to help students, who have been held back at least twice in elementary or middle school, graduate high school and be prepared for life after high school. Incoming freshmen students are paired with a coach, a Good Shepherd Services staff member who regularly meets with students to provide support and talk with them about their academic work, their plans, and aspirations for the future.
