Who We Are
Alexandra Whalen is a Vice President of Credit and Special Situations Sales at Cowen Group. Prior to Cowen, she worked at CRT Capital Group where she started her career in finance. Alex graduated from Villanova University in 2007 with a BA in Communication and a minor in Business. She grew up in Basking Ridge, NJ and now lives in New York City where she enjoys running in the park and sampling the many cuisines NYC has to offer.
Casey Horan is originally from South Windsor, Connecticut. Casey majored in Accountancy at the University of Notre Dame and received her Bachelor of Business Administration in 2015. During her time at Notre Dame, she studied International Business at the University College Dublin in Ireland. She works at Deloitte & Touche LLP in the New York City Audit Practice. Throughout her time working at Deloitte, she has served Financial Services clients in the Banking and Securities Industry. She enjoys swimming, volunteering & traveling around the world.
Cathy Chen is a Manager of Marketing Strategy at Hudson’s Bay Company. Prior to joining HBC, she worked in investment banking at Centerview Partners. Cathy received a BA in Economics and Public Policy from Dartmouth College. She grew up in Indiana and is a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. In her free time, Cathy enjoys playing the piano, cooking, traveling and volunteering as a tutor.
Doug Dellinger grew up near Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Duke University in 2012. He currently works as an investment professional at Investindustrial and previously worked at Audax Group and in management consulting. He is excited to have the opportunity through Good Shepherd Services’ Springboard to engage with the community he now calls home.
Jaclyn Wilson is originally from Hillsborough, New Jersey. She graduated from New York University in 2014 with a BA in Psychology with a minor in Business Studies. Jaclyn is a Project Manager at Accel Solutions LLC, a government contracting firm. Prior to joining Accel, she was a marketing analyst at Hudson’s Bay Company. Jaclyn is passionate about giving back to the city she now calls home, reading, and traveling.
Jennifer Broadbent is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. She received her undergraduate degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and her MBA from Columbia Business School. Jennifer is a Senior Manager in EY consulting group where she primarily works with financial services organizations. Jennifer has been volunteering with Good Shepherd Services since 2007 and is excited to take on a new role with Springboard.
Jenn Sherman grew up right outside of Washington D.C. She currently lives in Manhattan and works as a Senior Associate within the Markets Control Office at BNY Mellon. Prior to that, she worked within Surveillance at Deutsche Bank. Jenn attended the University of South Carolina where she dual majored in Risk Management and Marketing, and minored in German. When Jenn is not at work you can find her on the next travel adventure, painting, going to kickboxing, yoga, or barre classes.
James Pickel grew up in Queens, New York. He is currently a Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Colony NorthStar, Inc. Prior to starting at Colony, James was an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. James received his BA from St. John’s University in 2010 and his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2013. James is also a mentor in the iMentor Program – NYC and a member of the junior board for Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of New York.
Lakshmi Davey is on the Strategy team at New York City Economic Development Corporation, where she works on projects spanning infrastructure, real estate, and economic policy. She previously worked in municipal finance at Morgan Stanley. Lakshmi is from New Jersey and graduated from Princeton University with a degree in public policy. In her spare time, Lakshmi is a member of Ayana Arts, a dance company, and loves to travel with her family, read, volunteer, and explore New York City.
Lauren Ramsey is a social responsibility professional who understands and strongly believes in the power of community engagement and volunteerism. She currently leads volunteerism initiatives at United Way of NYC, where her primary role is to create corporate volunteer opportunities that support partner CBO’s. She has experience in program management in both the CSR and CBO space, and her specialties include community engagement, volunteer management, and relationship building.
Matthew Camp is Director of Government Relations for Teachers College, Columbia University, where he coordinates College advocacy to city, state, and federal officials. Matt is also a PhD candidate in Politics & Education at Columbia. He is a board member of Community Board 9 and the Morningside Area Alliance in New York City, and volunteers as an SAT, GED, and ESL teacher. Matt enjoys bike riding, public art, and punk rock.
Melanie Blanco is a global communications professional and specializes in developing integrated communications strategies that align with organizational goals and culture. She is currently Director, Strategic Communications at FTI Consulting, a global business advisory firm. In her free time, you can find Melanie planning her next overseas trip, exercising, or running around Brooklyn.
Michael Sena grew up on Long Island and graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA in 2012. He is currently a manager in RSM US LLP’s transaction advisory group, and previously worked at PwC. Mike is an avid rower and loves spending time outdoors.
Sangita Rivera is a Customer Success Manager at Cisco. She holds a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Masters degree in Hospitality Management from UCCR in Switzerland. She grew up in Abu Dhabi and currently lives in Jersey City. Sangita also serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Hudson County. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, diving, reading, yoga, and spending time with her husband and fur babies.
Sharon Gandolfo is a Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society’s Northeast Region. She’s responsible for the fundraising and event management of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Central Park – one of the largest events on the East Coast drawing over 50,000 participants annually. Prior to joining the American Cancer Society, Sharon managed the Corporate Membership program at PBS member station, WNET New York Public Media. She currently lives in New Jersey and is passionate about fundraising, the art and culture scene in New York, and traveling.
Tannisha Troutman has over 16 years of experience providing service to financial institutions and nonprofit organizations. Her current focus is on large, multinational, public life and annuity insurance organizations. Prior to joining Deloitte, Ms. Troutman served as the Controller and Vice President of Operations for Junior Achievement of New Jersey. She also currently serves on the steering committee of the Harlem YMCA’s Black Achievers in Industry (bai). A graduate of Villanova University in Pennsylvania, she is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is a member of various professional organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New Jersey State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Black Accountants. Ms. Troutman resides in New Jersey with her husband, three sons and parents.
Valerie Marks grew up in Princeton and now considers herself a true New Yorker, calling New York City home for the past 8 years. Passionate about people and helping others, she majored in Psychology with a minor in Entrepreneurship & Management at Johns Hopkins University. Her career in brand marketing, from beauty to now Italian wine, focuses on building strategic brand plans and digital strategies. In her free time you can find her running on the East River, reading, cooking, volunteering or traveling the world.
Wendy Cheng is an Associate at Littlejohn & Co. Previously, she worked in the Private Equity Group at Goldman Sachs. Wendy received a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied finance and marketing. She grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ and currently lives in Manhattan. In her free time, Wendy enjoys running, reading, volunteering, attending concerts, and exploring NYC’s food and drink scene. She is thrilled to support GSS through her involvement in SpringBoard.
Whitney Ash grew up in the city of Chicago. She currently lives in Manhattan and works as a Senior Consultant on the Strategy Consulting & Research team at FTI Consulting. Prior to that, she worked at Edelman Berland as a Market Research and Communications Consultant. Whitney Ash attended the University of Pennsylvania where she majored in Health and Societies and minored in Political Science and Sociology. When Whitney is not at work, you can find her eating at one of NYC’s new restaurants, volunteering or exercising or going to a concert.
